The Making of the Film - an interview with Kintaro Walks Japan
On November 01, 2007 in Interviews
If you missed it yesterday I posted a little teaser to our interview with Tyler from Kintaro Walks Japan. Today we are going to get some insight into the making of the film and I talk about a few of the highlights.
But first, I want to say thank you again to Tyler for giving this interview. He is a very inspiring person and I think his film is beautiful. So I am honored, of course, to post about it.
A few people have asked about how Tyler filmed Kintaro Walks Japan. So I was sure to ask him in the interview. Now we don’t have to wonder any longer:
Daily J: Did you have a camera man or did you film the whole thing yourself?
Tyler: Lucky for me Japanese people are very technologically advanced, and most know how to use a video camera. I was alone while walking, but often asked people to hold the camera for me.
Well, there you have it. I think it is pretty amazing for an amateur video.
Here are some parts of the film that stood out to me:
#1 At this point in the video Tyler talks about why Japan is such a good country to hike through. While in college I had my own little journey in the Japanese countryside and I totally agree with his reasons. Check it out -
#2 I thought that this part was really touching. Tyler’s father gets to visit the place where he was born in Japan and they share a father-son moment together -
#3 The Extra Benefit of Walking Japan
#4 Hey, that’s not what the reporter said. But it sure is funny!
Be sure to join us tomorrow to find out what Tyler has to say about:
- The best part of walking Japan
- How he prepared for his walk
- His favourite place in Japan
- Awards for KWJ, winning the U.S. TV show “Amazing Race”, and his future projects.
Stay Tuned!
