What should Daily J be when it grows up?

The Thinker

I’ve been doing some thinking about what Daily J can contribute to the J-web.

It reports on the J-web in general (whatever that means :) )

And it tries to bond J-bloggers together into more of a community.

But, like I ask interviewees about their sites, “who would love this site and why?”

You know the answer to that question better than I.

That is why I am always asking for your feedback.

So I do not know who all of you are.

But I do have an idea about where Daily J might want to go.

Daily J, the Japan-blogger’s blog. A news source on the J-blogosphere.

  1. Shane Sakata Said,

I am a newbie blogger and like that you are trying to create a community of J-bloggers. I lived in Japan for 4 years (1994-1998) and will be moving back for two years. I will be blogging about my experiences in Japan. I have two ideas:

1 - http://www.japanitup.com/ this is a blog that is not on your interviewee roll who I have been following - possible interview here.

2- Rather than just do interviews why not due features on Japan. You could do informative pieces on arts&crafts, tech stuff, etc with a Japanese twist. You could use guest bloggers for these posts or challenge everyone to do a piece on a subject and highlight the good ones in a post here….I would be happy to consider co-ordinating this if you want to contact me.

    Hi Shane,
    Thanks for the feedback!

    Welcome to the Japan-blogosphere :)

I really like your ideas in #2. The challenging everyone part is a lot like the JapanBlogMatsuri which we are trying to get rolling again.

And thanks for recommending Japanitup. I looks like a great site. I just took a look at his about page and it seems like he is doing something similar to NihonHacks (life tips on how to do {blank} in Japan), so I bet they could work together on dreaming up great tips for everyone.

Thanks again. And good luck on your move.
