Mission & Passion
On August 07, 2008 in Suggestions Please
I started DailyJ as an offshoot of Nipponster. With Nipponster I helped create a Japan-related website with the goal of helping other “Japan-enthusiasts” (people with some interest or vested-interest in Japan).
Starting it made me interested in connecting with other people who had started Japan-related websites and blogs. I wanted to hear about what they were doing and why they loved doing it. I wanted to hear their stories and know that I wasn’t alone.
I think, quite accidentally, I found something that was really needed: A community for Japan-related webmasters and bloggers; a place where they could tell their story and connect with others. (And I met some very cool people in the process)
I never ran out of people to interview who wanted to be interviewed. I just ran out of time and energy.
I wasn’t prepared to keep things going.
Daily blog posting is a little crazy.
But I like being a little crazy.
Let’s call it passion ![]()

Welcome back. Good to know you’re feeling up to it again.
Thanks Billy. btw, Your JapanBlogger.net looks great!
It’s good to see that the Japan-related web “virus” is spreading
Yeah, it’s like an elevator that has left the ground floor, but too many people are still doing ground-floor stuff. There’s a whole world of opportunity to do original Japan-related sites and it’s nice to see some are taking it to the next level.
Couldn’t agree more. I hope we will see more innovators in the future (and maybe less imitators). And I think we will.
Either way (imitatation or innovation) people are talking about Japan, and that’s a good thing.
